  • 2 cups chopped bottle gourd (lauki)
  • 1 cup plain yogurt (dahi)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder (lal mirch)
  • 1 tsp ginger paste (adrak)
  • 1 tsp garlic paste (lehsun)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves for garnish


  • In a pan, heat the oil and add the cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  • Add the ginger and garlic paste and sauté for a few seconds.
  • Add the chopped bottle gourd, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to taste. Mix well.
  • Cover the pan and let the bottle gourd cook for 10-12 minutes on low flame until it becomes tender.
  • Once the bottle gourd is cooked, add the plain yogurt and mix well. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
