Bengaluru’s civic body – the BBMP – has announced plans for the city’s second official food street, as per new reports. The three-month plan, which features 22 shops on a 500-metre stretch near the Sheshadripuram College in Yelahanka New Town. Located adjacent to Doddaballapur Road and Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan Road, the eat street was allotted an additional ₹160,000 over the initially agreed upon ₹240,00. With construction and electrification work nearly completed, working on the details like installing benches has been expected to take 2-3 months.
Previously a dumping ground, the street has been transformed to make way for granite pavements, energy-efficient LED street lights and a colourful aesthetic. The shops and huts located along the street will offer favourites like crispy dosas, chaat items and other snacks, catering to crowds from Yelahanka, Kogilu, Ramagondanahalli and Kodigehalli from the northern outskirts. While the VV Puram food street in the southern part of the city exists, talks are ongoing about revamping the city’s first official thindi beedi, as the second launches.
