Anushka Sharma Can’t Pick Between These Two Vegan Burgers

Actor Anushka Shama, who would soon be seen in cricketer Jhulan Goswami’s biopic, Chakda Express, took to Instagram yet again to give us a peek into her delish meal of the day. If you happen to follow Anushka on Instagram, you are perhaps aware that she is a big food buff. Recently when she was in Paris, her croissant trail even inspired actress Parineeti Chopra to tuck into some European breads in London.

On Wednesday, Anushka shared an image of two half-cut burgers that had put her in a dilemma of sorts. The actor wrote in her caption, “couldn’t decide between the vegan mutton or chicken patties”, this led her to have them both. Good choice Anushka, when in doubt. Have them both.

Anushka is vocal about her love for animals. She used to be a hard-core meat-eater, but a few years ago, the actress decided to turn vegan. She also encouraged her then-boyfriend and now-husband, cricketer Virat Kohli towards a cruelty-free diet. Virat admitted in an interview how he had started including more vegan options in his high-protein diet.

It is quite a task to load up on protein when on a vegan diet, but certainly not impossible. There are several cafes and restaurants that are doing an excellent job in the area of ‘mock-meat’. Mock meat is nothing but food that resembles meat in taste and texture, but actually made with plant-based sources. Since veganism, as a philosophy, rejects all animal-based goods including dairy and honey, these meats are typically sourced from nuts, plants, fruits etc.

Jackfruit is emerging as a front-runner in the world of mock-meat. But what many people do not know is that jackfruit has been used as ‘vegetarian meat’ in India since thousands of years ago, even before, terms like ‘veganism’ and ‘mock meat’ came into the picture. In India, even soya is a popular mock-meat patty option. Lentils and pumpkin can also be used to make delish vegan patties. Here’s a delicious vegan burger you should try very soon. Do let us know how you liked it.
