Rum, often touted to be a winter drink, is known for its versatile flavours and warmth. It was once used as a currency and helped boost the economies of colonial societies. Made out of sugarcane, this alcoholic beverage is a cocktail staple. The most famous ones are piña colada, mai tai, and daiquiri. Aged in oak barrels, rum boasts complex notes and flavours.
This World Rum Day, to be celebrated on July 12, 2025, Slurrp connected with Merrick Rodrigues, Mixologist, McDowell’s X Series. He has recently curated a few new cocktails using Dark Rum and Citron Rum from the McDowell’s X Series collection. You can use your preferred flavour of the spirit to recreate these at home.
