As the month of June progresses, several parts of India experience heat wave-like conditions. In such a scenario, staying hydrated is imperative. Medical experts usually recommend drinking plenty of water and avoiding direct contact with the sun. Lemon-based drinks are good sources of antioxidants and the citrusy flavour is quite a relief during summers. There’s another delicious fruit that can be muddled into a cocktail for summers. From the berry family, it is cranberries. The sweet and juicy berries are dark red in colour and have a tart taste. 

Cranberries not only taste really well, but also come with several health benefits. These include improved digestion, reduction in inflammation and as well as several antioxidants. A great source of fibre, these berries make for a delicious mojito too. It is also suggested that one should avoid greasy and oily foods as they not only make us lethargic but also produce heat in the body. Summer drinks or coolers come to the rescue in such situations. Those fruits and vegetables with high water content are preferred over others. Even mint leaves are often used in summer drinks to give them a tinge of freshness.

Cranberry juice is often consumed during summers and tastes amazing. It is best to make fresh juice at home as the store-bought ones are too sugary and full of preservatives. The same cranberries can be used for making mocktails as well as cocktails. A touch of chilli wine really spruces up the flavour of any drink. 

Home chef and Slurrp Community member, Sonia Sarpal shares a cranberry cocktail recipe for summers but it has a twist. The cocktail is made with cranberry, fresh lime, mint leaves and chilli wine. Cranberry Mojito With Chilli Wine 

Ingredients

  • 100 ml Chilli wine
  • 100 ml Cranberry juice
  • 30 ml Lime juice
  • 10 Fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 Lemon wedges
  • 5-10 Fresh cranberries
  • Ice cubes

Method 

  1. To make this mojito, take a glass and brush some lemon over the rim. Once it is wet, mix red chilli powder and salt in a bowl. 
  2. Take the glass and dip the rim in it so that it covers the entire line of the rim. 
  3. Thenl, take some fresh mint leaves and throw them in the glass. To this, add some cut lemon wedges and cranberries. 
  4. Muddle all the components and then pour some cranberry juice in it. 
  5. Next, add some lemon juice and ice cubes to the glass. 
  6. Now, pour the chilli wine and mix it all together. 
  7. Top it with some more cranberries and mint leaves. 
  8. Your refreshing cranberry cocktail with chilli wine is ready.
