Some creations or experiments are simply genius, but some, especially when it comes to food, are unbelievably weird. In the recent past, we have seen a trend of particularly bizarre foods going viral. From food bloggers and streetside eateries to popular restaurants, everyone is jumping on the bandwagon to come up with the most unusual dishes, combining two or more distinguished flavours to create an all-new dish.
From ‘dhokla ice cream roll’ to ‘chole bhature ice cream’, ‘cotton candy maggi’ and even ‘rabri golgappa’, options galore for anyone willing to risk their taste buds. And now adding to the list is another bizarre preparation being tried in Osaka, Japan. In the latest viral video, a weird ramen soup with a soft serve ice cream has taken the internet by storm. Turns out, the trend of bizarre dishes isn’t limited to India alone. This viral video of the ramen with ice cream was shared on Instagram by blogger Jesse Ogundiran and it has already raked in over 3 million views and more than 150k likes. "Would you try Ice Cream with Ramen," asked the blogger in the caption of the post.
In the clip, Jesse revealed that this Ramen with ice cream was a legit dish being served at the Franken restaurant in Osaka. Called as the 'Sweet and Spicy Miso Ramen', a bowl of hot ramen is served with an entire ice cream cone, that comes in both vanilla and chocolate. It costs just $10. The ice cream is said to add creaminess to the soup due to the milk used in it, thus neutralising its spicy taste with a hint of sweetness.
While in the video, many customers seem to like the unusual combination of ramen with ice cream, several Instagram users were in doubt. "Honestly how does it taste? Will you have it again," questioned one user while another wrote, "Vanilla is okay but chocolate is out of the question!" A few others thought the dish was completely normal. "People put cheese and/or sugar in their ramen and some people also put ice because they can't handle the heat so I don't see the big deal," said another user.
