Mumbai’s Mohammed Ali Road is synonymous with the month of Ramzan. This buzzing street in the city that has been the main tradition for the Mumbaikars during the month of Ramzan the by-lanes are packed with kebabs, nalli nihari, malpua, firni and more variety of desserts. The Slow-cooked nalli nihari along with a melt in a mouth roomali roti makes for an unbeatable combination. This market that is said to have originated decades ago saw only few handful of stalls around Minara Masjid which is now a popular tourist attraction. The gastronomical experience is something similar to one that sees in Purani Dilli Jama masjid. The lanes of Bohri Mohalla, Nagpada Junction, Dongi and Bhendi Bazaar are packed during the month as shopkeepers can’t breathe a minute from serving the enthusiast. The smokey aroma of the kebabs and the tandoors will leave you eating anything and everything there. This road is always usually is bustling even post-midnight with people dining with their families and friends.

Jaffer Bhai's Delhi Darbar

Started in 1973 this one an iconic place in Mahim, The “Biryani King of Mumbai”, Delhi Darbar’s Jafferbhai Mansuri makes the best biryani and is the only restaurateur who can cook every item of food on the menu. he meat quality is so good that till date no other restaurant is close to it. Their special Haleem sees the use of gurda, kaleji and mutton, they do a mean Haleem. 

Baba Falooda, Mahim

This place surely knows the Faluda well. Priced at Rs 100 for one, Baba Falooda serves falooda with cut pieces of kulfi floating on top along with some dry fruits too. Their Shahi Falooda, Malai Falooda tops the list.

Suleman Usman Mithaiwala, Mahim


Established in 1936 and Suleman Usman Mithaiwala soon became the most popular sweet meat outlet. Their Gulab Jamun and Firni are just awesome. Weekdns are mostly crowded here and you can get to taste many variety of sweets but their Phirni is a must to try. They serve the Phirni, in earthen bowls.

Persia Darbar Jogeshwari

Known for it’s Haleem with mutton boti and khichda this place will surely not disappoint you. The place strongly believes that ingredients are essential to the flavour.

Kakori House, Mahim

Visiting Mahim and not visiting here is a crime. The place is known for their Awadhi cuisine, the place is perfect for kakori and galouti kebabs paired with some roomali roti or Warqi parathas. The non-veg preparations here sees a Lucknowi flavours. The best part being the kebabs are not greasy yet melt in a mouth. 

Lucknowee Tunday Kebab, Kurla

This place gets all the points for their Tunday Kebabs and rolls. This family dining place apart form the Tundey kebab  is known for their Afghani Chicken Kebab, Murg Barra Tandoori and  baida roti (a fried variety of Indian bread coated with egg and stuffed with minced chicken).
