IF you’ve been curious about Khapli atta — the ancient Emmer wheat that’s been quietly making its way back into Indian kitchens — nine creators just spent 12 days cooking with it, eating it, and reporting back. Here’s what they found.

Aashirvaad Chakki Khapli Atta recently kicked off the 12-Day Gut Reset Challenge: a relay-style content series featuring nine creators — nutritionists, home chefs, fitness enthusiasts, and parents — who will each cook, eat, and report back on what happens when you swap your everyday atta for one of India’s oldest grains.

The challenge runs across 12 days and 12 reels, live on Instagram. Each creator picks up where the last one left off, passing the baton — and a very specific question — to the next. Think of it as a relay race, except the baton is a bag of Khapli atta and the finish line is your gut.

Why Khapli? Why now?

  1. Higher in fibre and protein than modern wheat
  2. Lower in gluten — though not gluten-free, an important distinction
  3. Lower glycaemic index than modern wheat, meaning it releases energy more slowly than refined wheat

In short: it’s the grain your grandmother may have used before packaged atta made it unnecessary. And it’s back.

The question isn’t just ‘is Khapli healthy?’ — it’s whether it can actually survive in a real Indian kitchen.

Who’s in the relay

The series is anchored by Vaishali (@mynutritionpalette), a nutritionist with 197K followers, who opens and closes the challenge and appears at three points through the 12 days to provide the science layer. She’s joined by home chefs Purna (@purna_recipes), Erikaa (@the.food.talks), Shivani (@hunger_effect), and Sonia Sarpal (@sonia.sarpal); fitness creators Jaspreet (@jazzz987) and Mansi (@getfitwith_mansi); and mommy creators Priyanka Meena (@recipesbypriyanka) and Priya (@makeiteasywithpriya). Nine creators, nine kitchens, one grain.

Each creator is cooking real food in a real kitchen. The recipes — Khapli phulka rotis, paneer parathas, namkeen, veggie pinwheels, a tea cake, a stuffed paratha, a wrap — are their own. The challenge is to make Khapli work not as a special-occasion health food but as an everyday kitchen staple.

The relay format, explained

The format is what makes this more than a standard series. Each reel ends with a specific challenge to the next creator. Day 1 (Vaishali) asks: can Khapli actually make soft rotis? Day 2 (Purna) answers that and then passes the protein question to the fitness creator. Day 3 (Vaishali again) tackles the energy crash. And so on, through 12 days and every major objection anyone has ever had about switching their everyday atta.

It’s designed to be watched as a series — each reel is complete in itself but rewards following the whole thing. The full relay will be pinned on the Aashirvaad Instagram handle once all 12 are live, so you can binge the whole thing in one go if you’d rather wait for the full picture.

About Aashirvaad Chakki Khapli Atta

The relay only works if the flour at the centre of it is the real thing. The atta being used across all 12 reels is Aashirvaad Chakki Khapli Atta — stone-ground in the traditional chakki style, sourced from Khapli wheat farmers in Karnataka and Maharashtra, and put through 40+ quality checks from grain to grinding. Each pack carries a unique, QR-linked quality certificate that traces the flour back to its source batch and farm. It’s the traceability angle that matters here: in a category where not all Khapli products are equally what they claim to be, having verifiable provenance is a meaningful differentiator.
