A big-time foodie with a charming aura, Hina Khan has come a long way from her bahu wali personality to a bold and outspoken woman who doesn’t like to mince her words. After a long acting stint in her first soap opera which lasted for more than five years, Hina Khan was seen in plenty of reality television shows like Khatron Ke Khiladi and Bigg Boss. The actress was giving us vacay goals some time back when she was on a trip with her beau to Egypt. Amidst the pyramids and tombs, she was having a gala time with lavish food spreads.

Ramadan is here and everyone is gearing up for their month-long fasting season. From sehris to iftaars, plenty of food is prepared beforehand during this time. The holy month follows 28 to 30 days of fasts without food and water. Before dawn, the Muslims observing fasts or rozas, wake up and eat what is known as sehri. It is only at sunset that they then break their fast with a feast known as iftaar. Friends and family get together to celebrate it together.

It seems like Hina Khan is observing rozas this year too. The actress took to her Instagram to share a glimpse of her Iftaar spread. She added a sticker to it saying, “It’s iftaar time”. On the table, we can spot some chopped watermelon and papayas. Right in front is a glass of pink sherbet with what looks like chia seeds. In the far corner, we can also see a plate full of deep-fried fritters. Just wondering if they are aloo and onion ones or some meaty pakoras.

You can also have an Iftaar party at home this year and here are the recipes that should be on your menu.

1.  Chicken Malai Tikka

Any iftaar meal is incomplete without a range of meaty delights. Taking it slow with appetizers, you can grill some creamy chicken tikkas. The boneless chicken is marinated in a creamy mixture and grilled to perfection. Served with a drizzle of cream, it tastes amazing.

2.  Mutton Biryani

Iftaar and no biryani on the table would be a sheer disappointment for guests. Tender pieces of marinated lamb are dunked in a pot full of long-grain rice. The aromatic saffron-flavoured rice lends the biryani a beautiful colour and rich texture. Serve with cucumber and onion raita.

3.  Sheer Khurma

Ending the meal on a sweet note is a must. This classic Mughlai dessert is made from vermicelli, milk and dates. The light and thin pudding is served warm or cold.
