How much do you pay for street food? For a plate of pani puri, it cannot be more than Rs 50 a plate. If you have ordered Maggi, it would have cost you Rs 100 or Rs 200, if you stretch it. Have you heard of omelette or Maggi priced at Rs 1100? Yes, it no longer seems like street food, but roadside stalls in India have a lot to offer, not just in terms of food but also surprise.

Only in India, one can find a wholesome meal with unlimited refills under Rs 200 and a plate of Maggi being sold for more than Rs 1,000. But these street food vendors are not selling dishes that you normally eat at makeshift and roadside stalls. They have made them special by adding a few unique ingredients that are usually not used while cooking these lip-smacking delicacies.

Aayush Sapra, a foodie on YouTube, posted a video of the most expensive street foods in India a week ago, and the video has gone viral. With over 600K views in such a short span, he took the viewers to various stalls that sell these overpriced dishes. Here is why they cost so much.

Maggi For Rs 1100

If you have ever been to Paschim Vihar, New Delhi, you must have heard of Bunty Meat Wala (BMW). An ex-army person dressed in sharp clothes donning a blue apron sells mutton Maggi (yes, it’s correct) for Rs 1100. He cooks maggi in mutton gravy that includes 4 pieces of meat, weighing 550 gm. He later added seasoning and keema and allowed the noodles to soak in all the flavours. In the end, he served it on a white plate and garnished the spicy noodles with lemon juice, coriander leaves, and sliced ginger.

Ice Cream For Rs 400

Akash Kulfi & Faluda is run by a man who can be spotted from far away in the market. He dons chunky gold bracelets and chains and studded rings and makes the most expensive ice cream in the capital. The kulfi comes with a coating of 24K gold leaf and is sold for Rs 400. He has a shop in the busy lanes of the gold market in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

Omelette For Rs 1100

Sikandar Omelette, Sitaram Bazar, is a wide-known name in Delhi. People in NCR travel kilometres just to taste unique varieties of omelettes here. The owner of the shop has made headlines for making Daulat ki chaat ka omelette, Parle G omelette, potato chips omelette, and whatnot. He chooses omelettes of the best quality and tops them with 24K gold leaf, spices, and black alkaline water. Therefore, it costs around Rs 1100. He is probably the only person you would come across on the internet who makes omelette in water and not in butter or oil.

Bhelpuri For Rs 2100

A man runs a small shop in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, in which he sells bhelpuri for Rs 2100. Apart from adding sliced onions, chopped tomatoes, grated carrots, chopped coriander leaves and other vegetables, he adds dry fruits and fresh fruits. He serves the chaat on a golden plate. The vendor adds sliced potatoes as the base and tops the bhelpuri with cashews, curd, pineapple, pomegranate, strawberries, kiwi, and grapes. He finishes it with silver and golden varq.

Paan For Rs 1100

Yum’s Panchayat in Connaught Place is the first paan parlour in India. Their Ferrero Rocher Gold Paan costs Rs 1100 because it includes 24K gold varq, several silver-coated refreshing ingredients, and fresh fruits like Kiwi. It is served in a small bowl filled with ice. The pan is pierced with a tooth to hold the betel leaf and ingredients together. A Ferrero Rocher is added on the top with fruits on the top and bottom of it.
