Celebrated every third Saturday of May, World Whisky Day commemorates one of the most beloved spirits across the globe. Falling on the 17th of May, this year, you can raise a toast to your favourite whisky. Be it Scotch, Bourbon, Irish, Tennessee, Canadian, or Rye, the best way to make the most of World Whisky Day is by making cocktails at home.
Whether you’re planning a house party, a sundowner with friends, or simply looking for a fun way to unwind on the weekend, cocktails are sure to get the vibe uplifted. To help you with some tried and tested recipes, here is a list of easy-to-follow whisky cocktails curated by Diageo India’s Brand Ambassador, Hemali Bendre.
Pinacolada Whisky Sparkler
Ingredients:
- 50 ml Whisky
- 30 ml Pineapple & Vanilla Cordial
- 80 ml Coconut Soda
Instructions:
- Build up all ingredients in the glass.
- Mix everything in a cocktail shaker till smooth.
- Pour into a Highball glass.
- Garnish with a pineapple slice and serve.
Plum Zinger Mule
Ingredients:
- 45 ml Whisky
- 20 ml Plum Jam
- 5 ml Fresh Lime Juice
- 0.5 ml Black Salt
- 3 Basil Leaves
- 90 ml Ginger Ale
Instructions:
- Mix all spirits and some crushed ice in a cocktail shaker.
- Add plum jam, black salt, and basil leaves, and stir gently.
- Once well-mixed, pour the cocktail into a ceramic glass.
- Garnish with a plum wedge and basil sprig before serving.
Summer Breeze
Ingredients:
- 45 ml Scotch Whisky
- 15 ml Dark Malt Syrup
- 15 ml Banana Liqueur
- 20 ml Fresh Lime Juice
Instructions:
- Add scotch whisky, malt syrup, fresh lime juice, and banana liqueur into a shaker and mix well.
- Mix in ice cubes to chill the drink.
- Pour the whisky cocktail into clear glasses and garnish with salted banana chips.
- Serve it with crushed ice.
Mango Mint to Be
Ingredients:
- 50 ml Scotch Whisky
- 20 ml Mango Puree
- 8 Mint Leaves
- 30 ml Fresh Lime Juice
- 15 ml Honey Syrup
- 3 dashes Angostura Bitters
- 3 dashes Vegan Foamer
Instructions:
- Pour scotch whisky, fresh lime juice, honey, and mango puree into a cocktail shaker.
- Shake vigorously till you get a smooth consistency.
- Add in mint leaves, Angostura bitters, and vegan foamer.
- Pour the drink into an Old Fashioned glass.
- Garnish with a dried mango slice and basil leaves and serve chilled.
