Cricketer Virat Kohli who would soon be playing his 100th test against Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup is an inspiration for many. Delhi-born Kohli, started playing cricket when he was as young as six or seven. Later on, he did not only lead his Under-19 India Squad to victory but also became one of the most successful captains of the Indian Cricket team. He stepped down from captaincy early this year and remains one of the most beloved cricketers despite his off-form on pitch these days. Virat has been very vocal about his fitness transformation and is largely credited for bringing the culture into the Indian cricket team. He has a strict diet that he follows most religiously.

In 2017, in an interview with Gaurav Kapoor, Virat revealed that he hadn’t had his favourite ‘butter chicken’ in four years. And how he was more drawn towards gluten-free breads and nut butters, he also spoke candidly about his low carb and high protein intake. Grilled fish and veggies would comprise most of his dinner, which would be wrapped up by 8 p.m. and he loved to start his day with green tea and lemon.

Now in the latest interview with the Indian Express, Kohli spilled more beans about how his approach to fitness changed his life. The former captain said that he wasn’t serious about his diet and fitness when he started, but later on, he saw his own body and lifestyle and felt the need to reinvent, and ever since then he has been extra disciplined. He is always conscious of what he adds to his plate. He absolutely steers clear of processed sugar and gluten. He also avoid dairy as much as possible. Another tip he shared in the interview was how he never filled his stomach 100 percent. He would eat to 90 percent of my stomach's capacity only. The journey has been hard for a foodie like Virat Kohli, but once you start seeing the results, staying healthy becomes an “addiction”, Kohli revealed.

Virat also said that in addition to his diet, he doesn’t miss some repetitions or a couple of sets in the gym or snacks on something unhealthy.  

In another interview a while back, Virat also spoke about his newfound love for Vegan food courtesy his wife Anushka Sharma, but he never quite claimed to go fully vegan.
