Valentine's Day: Chef Aditi Garware Shares Dessert Recipes

Are you busy cooking a feast for the special date night on Valentine's Day? Well! It won’t be complete unless you serve a decadent, especially if your partner has a sweet tooth. A dessert not only caters to your sugar cravings but also ends the meal with a refreshing touch while leaving behind fruity and citrus notes.

Pastry Chef Aditi Garware, a lawyer turned baker, shared three easy dessert recipes with Slurrp. If you are looking to bake something delicious at the last minute, this article will help you end the meal on a sugary note by putting in minimal effort.

Nutella Chocolate Cheesecake

Ingredients

For Crust

  • 10 pieces chocolate biscuit
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

For Cream Cheese Filling

  • 100 grams of cream cheese
  • 30 grams of icing sugar
  • 25 grams of whipped cream
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 50 grams of Nutella

For Chocolate Filling

  • 50 grams of fresh cream
  • 50 grams of melted dark chocolate

Garnish

  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Berries and strawberries for the finishing touch

Method

  • For the crust, take biscuit crumbs along with butter.
  • Mix ingredients to form a soil-like texture.
  • Now in a dessert cup/ jar, add the crust layer with the help of a spoon.
  • To make the cream cheese mixture, in a bowl mix together cream cheese, whipped cream, icing sugar, Nutella and cocoa powder to form a homogeneous mixture.
  • ⁠Pipe this mixture over the crust layer with the help of a piping bag.
  • ⁠Now to make the chocolate filling, mix melted dark chocolate and fresh cream.
  • ⁠Mix well to form a silky smooth filling. Pour this onto the cream cheese layer.
  • Now dust some cocoa powder for garnish. You can also garnish it with some strawberries.
  • Set the dessert tub for 1 hour in the refrigerator. Serve chilled.

Jim Jam Biscuit

Ingredients 

For Biscuit

  • 125 grams of maida
  • 100 grams of butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 90 grams sugar

For Buttercream

  • 15 grams of butter
  • 40 grams of icing sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp milk/ water

Method

For Biscuit

  • Mix everything together with clean hands.
  • Make a dough & refrigerate it for 15 minutes. 
  • Now roll out the dough into a thin sheet.
  • Cut out heart-shaped cookies in pairs.
  • Make sure to cut out a small heart in the middle of one cookie in each pair. 
  • Now place them on a lined baking tray and refrigerate again for 15 minutes. 
  • Bake them for 20 mins at 170°C. 
  • Once baked, let them cool completely before assembly. 

For Jim Jam Biscuit

  • Beat everything well to form a smooth cream. 
  • ⁠Apply the cream on the plain biscuits and in the centre apply strawberry or mixed fruit jam. 
  • Sandwich this with its pair and serve.

Fruity Chocolate Mousse

Ingredient

For Mousse

  • 100 grams of melted chocolate
  • 100 grams of whipping cream
  • 100 grams of fresh cream
  • 1 tsp instant coffee
  • 1 tsp water

For Garnish

  • Cherries
  • Cocoa powder
  • Whipped cream piping

Method

  • Add the fresh cream to the melted chocolate and set aside.
  • ⁠In a small bowl, mix the instant coffee with water to make a concentrate.
  • ⁠Now add this concentrate to the chocolate & cream mixture.
  • In a bowl, whip the heavy cream/ whipping cream until it’s airy and fluffy.
  • Now add the chocolate mixture to this and gently fold it in to make a fluffy mousse.
  • Pipe this mousse in your serving glass.
  • ⁠Garnish with whipped cream, cherries or dust cocoa powder.
  • Chill for 1-2 hours and then serve.
