Easy Tips To Boil Sweet Potatoes; Make Mashed Potatoes

Due to their sweetness and pleasant texture, sweet potatoes are a multipurpose vegetable. You can boil, microwave, or bake sweet potatoes in the oven to prepare them for eating. Fortunately, whether you keep the skins on or not, the process of boiling sweet potatoes will be the same, and the technique we share is quite easy to use once you figure it out. There isn't much of a difference between cooking sweet potatoes with the skins on and peeling them, but keeping the skin on will provide you more fibre and potassium. Each bite is also somewhat texturized thanks to the skin. Before cooking the potatoes, peel them if you want a smoother mash. What you should know is as follows.

Right Way To Boil

Avoid any sweet potatoes with soft patches and look for ones with smooth skin that feels firm when you press it.

They can be kept for up to a week in a cool, dry environment, but refrigeration will cause them to dry out.

Chop the potatoes rather than boil them whole if you're making mashed sweet potatoes because it will save you time.

If you start them in cold water, it will take around 15 to 20 minutes to boil 4 pounds of chopped sweet potatoes (or about six sweet potatoes).

Method:

Under cold water, scrub the sweet potatoes. Leave the skin on for a mash that is more nutrient-dense. Use a vegetable peeler to peel for a smoother result. Slice into eighths and put in a big saucepan. Simply cover the potatoes with water.

Sweet potatoes should be boiled for 15 to 20 minutes, or until a fork can be inserted and they come out easily. If you chop the sweet potatoes into smaller pieces, it will go faster.

Drain again and add to the pot.

Remove the boiling potatoes and use the sweet potatoes to create mashed potatoes.

Warm up the oven. On a griddle, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter. Mash the potatoes after adding them to a bowl. Add salt, heavy cream, orange juice, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and black pepper can be added. Mashed potatoes should be placed on a lined baking sheet and baked for 15 to 20 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.

Benefits

Sweet potatoes are colourful root vegetables that are high in nutrients. They include lots of fibre and antioxidants, which guard your body from the harm caused by free radicals and support a healthy gut and brain. Additionally, beta-carotene, which is turned into vitamin A to support healthy vision and your immune system, is extraordinarily abundant in them. Since they can be used in both sweet and savoury meals, sweet potatoes are a fantastic carbohydrate choice for most individuals.
