This Easter, Offer Your Pet Rabbits Fibre-Rich Homemade Treats

Easter is around the corner, to be celebrated on April 20, 2025, and many people follow the tradition of gifting bunnies to their children, nieces, and friends. Since rabbits are associated with new life and fertility in Christianity, Greek Mythology, and many other cultures, this tradition is quite popular in the West. Over the past few decades, many pet parents and animal lovers have started to question it.

People gifting or receiving rabbits do not understand that these four-legged creatures are a huge responsibility for at least 10 years. When they cannot take care of them, bunnies are abandoned, leaving them exposed to threats. This Easter, you have an opportunity to celebrate the festival with your pet bunny, and as for the ritual, you can opt to give a stuffed animal.

If you have a rabbit at home, much like the author, you would know that they are playful like dogs and moody like cats. The fur babies remain in a lethargic mode for 90% of the day, but during dusk and dawn, they create havoc around the house. This year, prepare a feast for your furball at home. Rabbit’s Treats With Leafy Greens

Bunny parents know how much their babies love greens. If you put 50 grams of coriander in front of a rabbit, it would be gone in just a few minutes. Imagine preparing treats with these leaves and watching your bunny eat them with joy. Take 100 grams of hay and blend it in a mixer-grinder with sharp blades. Keep the fine hay aside and blend greens like coriander, spinach, dandelions, and romaine lettuce. You can use either one type of leafy green or multiple. Mix hay with the smooth green blend and transform the paste into treats of your desired shape. Add marigold petals on the top and bake the discs at 150°C for 10-12 minutes or until they dry up. Store them in an airtight container, and feed your bunny 2-4 treats a day.

Rabbit’s Treats With Peas And Cucumber

Rabbits love peas. Take it from the author as she sneaks the peas into the refrigerator while her bunny judges her. You can blend boiled peas and cucumber together. Cucumbers will add a refreshing taste and aroma to the treats. Combine coarse hay with this blend to prepare a thick, dough-like mountain. Tear away small pieces from the mixture and shape them into discs, stars, bunnies, or any other shape you like. Bake them at 150°C for 10-12 minutes or until they dry and serve them crispy to your fur baby.

Rabbit’s Treats With Berries

Bunny parents can spend hours watching reels on Instagram showcasing these animals eating strawberries and other berries. If your four-legged king or queen prefers any berries, you can create sweet treats for them. Since the citric fruits also have sugar, make sure to blend only 20-25 grams of berries for 100-120 grams of hay. Add more water to the fruity blend while mixing it with coarse hay. To decorate it, toss the leaves of marigold flowers. Bake the treats and offer them to your rabbit. Make sure not to give more than two a day.

Rabbit’s Treats With Bananas

Most rabbits enjoy eating bananas. Cut a thin and small slice of the fruit and offer it to your fur ball. If they eat it, you can make treats with it. You can simply blend a banana or add a few slices of apples to it. Turn 200 grams of hay into a coarse blend and mix it with the banana paste. Bake the cookies for your pet and offer them to them. If your bunny’s stomach gets upset by eating a banana, you can make it with just an apple. Offer no more than one treat a day.

Rabbit’s Treats With Flowers

Rabbits enjoy eating flowers too, especially roses, marigolds, dandelions, hibiscus, and chamomile. If your baby does not drink sufficient water throughout the day, you can add the petals to the water bowl, and this trick will work like magic. As for treats, you can blend either one or various varieties of flowers and mix them with hay. To make the treats appear beautiful, add roughly chopped petals on the top before baking the delights.
