This 'Ande Ka Halwa' Proves That No Food Is As Versatile As Egg

What is the one thing that is often seen stacked in our fridge? Yes, it is nothing but egg. It is the handiest food to be around. Be it an omelette, egg sandwich, or even egg curry, you will have a tasty delight that too rich in proteins. But I can bet that only a few people would have guessed that eggs could also be used for making ‘Ande ka Halwa’.  


Indian sweets like Gulab Jamun, Rasgulla and Sondesh have conquered the taste buds of millions of Indians. No matter what the occasion is, sweets are a much-awaited element. However, there are many sweet dishes that are lesser known. You would find many such lesser-known and unique sweets in India, right from Parwal ki Mithai to Pumpkin halwa but ‘Ande ka halwa’ is something that many people would not have guessed. This is because the dishes made from eggs are often savoury. Moreover, we tend to associate ‘halwa’ with Gajar, Suji, aata or moong Dal. But this unique ‘Ande ka Halwa’ will blow your mind.  


Talking about taste, it tastes amazing and is even better than your regular ‘Suji ka Halwa’. Usually, it is eaten in winters to keep the body warm. Not only it is rich in proteins but this ultimately unique dessert made with a concoction of, eggs, sugar, and milk will definitely trigger your sweet tooth. And most importantly, it doesn’t even have an iota of any flavour or taste of egg. Instead, you will fall in love with it in just one bite. 


‘Anda ka halwa’ also known as Dimer Halwa in Bangla, is stated to have originated from Pakistan. It is a festive dish often consumed during popular Muslim festivals like ‘Shab-e-Barat’ and ‘Ramadan’ for the iftar meal. 

‘Ande ka halwa’ can replace ‘Suji ka halwa’ during festivals or even when someone comes over. Moreover, you can even serve this amazing dessert among your friends during get-togethers and kitty parties and flaunt your brilliant cooking skills. Though it takes around 30 minutes to be cooked, you will not regret spending your time when you have this delight on your plate. Wondering how to make it? Here is how you can make ‘Ande ka Halwa’ at home. 

Have a look: 



  • 8 eggs 
  • ½ cup ghee 
  • 1 cup-soaked dried fruits 
  • ½ cup sugar (can also take diet sugar if required) 
  • 1 cup milk 
  • ½ green cardamom powder 
  • Saffron strands 


  • Take a non-stick pan and add ½ cup ghee to it. 
  • Add the dry fruits and sauté for 4 to 5 minutes 
  • Break the eggs into the pan one by and let them cook while stirring continuously 
  • Add sugar and mix 
  • Cook for another 2 minutes 
  • Add milk and cook for 4-5 minutes or till the milk gets absorbed 
  • Add cardamom powder and mix 
  • Transfer it to a mixing bowl 
  • Garnish with saffron and serve
