The Best Vegan Cafes And Restaurants In Bengaluru

In a fast-paced world with all its stresses, more and more people are turning to healthier alternatives when it comes to food. Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India, is leading the charge. With a population that has so much international exposure, it really should come as no surprise.

Posh Sadashiv Nagar would be incomplete without a fantastic vegan cafe. JustBe embodies its name in every way: its calm ambience, interesting menu, books to read, and games to play all set it out to be exactly the sort of place where you want to just be. At this plant-based vegan café, try out the Matunga toast, Peru and Som-Tam salad bowls, spitiko fagito, chia pudding, and gond ke laddoo.

Try their Yogi’s breakfast or indeed one of their many juices marketed as health drinks, including Miracle Juice, Happy Juice, and Detox Juice, among others.

THE HAPPINESS CAFÉ, KORAMANGALA

Not a full-fledged restaurant, this café in Koramangala checks all the right boxes in terms of how an environmentally conscious person wants to eat. The café is powered by solar energy; it uses recycled furniture; and it composts organic waste. Part of the Be Animal hostel, the Happiness Café is the perfect place to unwind—be sure to try their famous coconut iced tea, puddu cakes, and the many tinctures they have on offer. Particularly, our favorite Blue Magic, which has blue spirulina, lavender and mint.

GO NATIVE, JAYANAGAR

Go Native is now a veritable Bangalore institution. With five café spaces in Jayanagar, Lavelle Road, HSR Layout, Sadashiv Nagar, and Whitefield, Go Native’s dishes are conjured with organic, seasonal, and farm-fresh produce sourced from farms within a 500-km radius to ensure the best flavors with a minimal carbon footprint, true to its farm-to-table philosophy. By incorporating seasonal fruits and vegetables, their menu also changes seasonally. Catering to a wide range of preferences such as gluten-free, vegan, Jain-friendly, keto-friendly, low protein, and high protein, Go Native is more than just a dining space. For people who want to take baby steps toward sustainable living, Go Native’s stores can serve as a starter kit. While it is predominantly a vegetarian café, vegan adjustments can be made, and we can vouch for them being delicious. At their Jayanagar outlet, be sure to take a bite of the Spinach Neer Dosa with Gassi, Stuffed Guntur Idli, and Plant-Based Fried Mince Dumplings! Top it off with some Lotus Biscoff vegan ice cream.

VEGAN VOGUE, INDIRANAGAR

Vegan Vogue is one of the newer vegan restaurants making waves in Indiranagar, which is already overcrowded. A cutely curated Instagram page definitely helps. Some of our favorites include the mushroom, coconut, and black bean salad; agatogo, a take on a classic Rwandan dish; and black avocado pudding. If these items seem new to you, it is because they are, and you must check them out immediately.

Of course, being as it is Bangalore, there is no dearth of the usual darshinis, which also serve vegan fare without making a big deal about it. More often than not, an idli chutney you can get at a local joint is vegan. But if you also want to try out the more international fare, Bangalore is certainly the right place for it.
