Summer 2022: Chef Kunal Kapur’s Muskmelon Smoothie Is Perfect For Breakfast

Summer is here and while all we can hear about from people is the wrath of the scorching heat, there are some benefits of the season as well. It brings with it a bountiful amount of fresh fruits and veggies that can be used in myriad ways. And so as soon as the summer season arrives, it is the time to relish all the amazing fruits the season brings along. From mangoes, berries and watermelon to jamun and litchis, if there is one thing that we are thankful for in this scorching heat, it would be these delicious fruits.

Besides relishing these fruits as is, we also use them in our salad, sabzis and dessert, etc. While these are some of the top favourites, another popular summer fruit that we absolutely love is the humble muskmelon, popularly known as kharbooja in Hindi. Much like watermelon, kharbooja has a high-water content that helps us beat the heat outside. It comes with a sweet aroma and flavour that instantly bring in a stream of freshness in the body.

Besides being a delicious addition to our summer diet, muskmelon is a healthy fruit to pick. It is rich in Vitamin C, fibre, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that help us detox, digest and boost immunity. Rich in beta-carotene, muskmelon makes for a great fruit for better eye and bone health. Thanks to its potassium content, it helps in managing blood pressure as well.

We have a perfect summer recipe that can instantly hydrate, refresh and energise you with just one sip. This muskmelon smoothie shared by celebrity chef Kunal Kapur on his Instagram handle makes for a perfect breakfast meal during the summers. Quick, easy, cooling and loaded with several essential nutrients, muskmelon smoothie is all you need to kick-start the day. Let’s take a look at the recipe. 

Ingredients:

1 cup chopped muskmelon 

1 cup milk 

1.5 tbsp honey 

1 tbsp chopped celery 

One-fourth tsp chopped ginger 

A pinch of nutmeg powder 

A pinch of black pepper powder 

Few drops of vanilla extract 

Three-fourth cup of coconut water 

Method:

Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend. 

Transfer the smoothie to a tall glass, garnish with chopped muskmelon and serve.
