Stuffed Mirchi Fry: Flavourful Stuffing Inside, Crispy Outside

India is known for varieties of recipes which are preserved and stored for a month or two to be consumed as a side dish with daily meals. Such recipes are pickles, dips, chutneys, amaavat and many more. Among such dishes, this recipe of mirchi fry is also used as a side dish which enhances the taste of your daily meals like paratha, dal rice, roti curry, etc. 

The preparation of this dish is very easy and could be made in minutes. Though the stuffing is generally made of besan or gram flour, the stuffing of this recipe shared here, it is made of roasted peanut powder. Peanut is a healthy substitute of gram flour and is roasted along with spices like chilli powder, roasted cumin powder and amchur powder which multiplies the taste and brings a burst of flavours in the mouth when eaten. The amchur used in this recipe brings a tanginess to the mirchis and frying it in oil adds a crispy layer on the outside.

Protein, fibre, and healthy fats are all abundant in peanuts. Additionally, they are rich in B vitamins, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus. Ingredients: 

10 Green chilli (less spice)

¾ cup Peanut powder

½ tsp Turmeric / haldi

½ tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder

1 tsp Coriander powder

½ tsp Cumin powder / jeera powder

1 tsp Garam masala

1 tsp Amchur / dry mango powder

½ tsp Fennel powder / saunf powder

pinch of Hing / asafoetida

½ tsp Salt

2 tbsp Oil

Method:

Firstly, in a large mixing bowl take ¾ cup peanut powder. to prepare peanut powder, dry roast peanuts and remove the skin. further blend to coarse powder. Also add in ½ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, ½ tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp garam masala, 1 tsp amchur, ½ tsp fennel powder, pinch of hing and ½ tsp salt. Combine all the ingredients well. Now slit the medium spices green chilli and remove the seeds with the help of back of spoon. Stuff approximately 2-3 tsp of prepared peanut stuffing. Also heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and place stuffed mirchi. Cook for a minute or until the blisters appear on chilli. Flip the chillies and cook on all sides keeping the flame on medium. Once the chills are cooked from all sides, add in leftover stuffing mixture and allow to simmer for a minute

Finally, serve stuffed mirchi fry as a appetiser or as a side dish with your dinner. These crispy mirchi fries are flavourful and could be served with any boring meal to enhance the taste of it.
