The best part is it's so simple to do. Usually just muddle or smash the fresh herb leaves in the bottom of the glass before adding the other ingredients. This releases all the good flavours from the herbs. Large leaves or whole sprigs can be used as pretty garnishes too. Herbs add a fresh, garden-inspired taste to cocktails.

Try out different combinations and see which you like best! Some recipes say to let vodka, tequila, whiskey or other liquors soak with herbs for a while. This makes an herb flavoured liquor to use in drinks. You can also make herb syrups by steeping herbs in simple syrup. With all these easy ways to add herbs, you can make fun new drink flavours. Trying new herb cocktails is an adventure! So go ahead and experiment with some fresh herbs from your kitchen for your next drink. Your taste buds will thank you!

Spice Up Your Cocktails with Fresh Herbs

Rosemary - This pine-scented herb adds a subtle woodsy flavour to drinks. Try adding a sprig to a gin and tonic or make rosemary syrup to sweeten cocktails. It goes well with many spirits.

Thyme - Thyme's warm, earthy taste pairs great with wintery flavours. Try it with bourbon drinks or muddle it with berries in a mojito. It balances sweet and savoury perfectly.

Sage - Sage has a bold, savoury taste that can make drinks taste fancy. Make sage syrup for apple or pear cocktails. It also goes well with darker spirits.

Cinnamon - Cinnamon adds warmth and depth to drinks. Cinnamon syrup is used in rum or whiskey cocktails. Garnish with a cinnamon stick for extra flavour and presentation.

Allspice - This spice gives drinks a rich, sweet and spicy kick. Steep in simple syrup for a week, then use it to amplify cocktails.
