He has used his specialised education to co-found Food Darzee - a nutrition and health company that prepares customized meals based on individual dietary requirements and fitness goals. Tell us about your journey. How do you get the idea of creating this brand Food Darzee?

The idea of Food Darzee was born when I was suffering from a rare debilitating disease Lupus in college. I met three of my schoolmates who wanted to do something in the food and nutrition space during that time. Together we brainstormed and came up with an idea for a food start-up company. Food Darzee aims to deliver tailor-made nutritional food and nutrition-related consultations. Our nutritionists chalk out a meal plan that could be vegan, low carb, high protein, or a diet program for every individual to make them achieve their health goals. They keep a tab of daily progress and suggest what to retain and change as they move ahead with us. With a team, we have served more than 50,000 customers and delivered over 2.5 million meals to fulfil the needs of our customers across India. After a life-threatening disease, Food Darzee has reshaped my confidence. The process of growing your start-up created a sense of satisfaction in me, and the fact that the company is helping people get healthy is gratifying.

How do you see the market responding?

In the ongoing pandemic, people have once again started to pay attention to their health and monitor their progress regularly. They have adapted newer and healthier habits to keep them from various health challenges such as diabetes, obesity, etc. As a result, the market is witnessing an upward trend in healthy subscription-based foods. People are more aware than before, and now, following a healthy diet is a part of their lifestyle.

How being a mid-nutritionist did help you create a brand like this?

An idea can change lives. The same thing has happened with Food Darzee. It stands out when it comes to tailored-made healthy meals. The difference is the way our process at Food Darzee works. First, we provide personal nutritionists to clients who coach them to plan and micro-tailor their diet at every step. The culinary team then measures out every single gram of every ingredient to prepare tasty meals. After this, the logistic team delivers the food to their doorstep. As it stands, Food Darzee provides 5000 meals a day in 8 cities - Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Delhi.

People are demanding more from their food. They want their meals to have the ability to boost their immunity, sharpen cognition, maximize athletic performance, as well as uplift their mood. Therefore, a meal kit based on one’s personalized nutritional needs and goals, keeping in mind the body type, gender, age, weight, height, medical conditions, preferences, and lifestyle, is the current trend in the market.

We aspire to become one of the leading health and nutrition companies across the globe. Food Darzee aims to reach every individual and move them towards a healthy lifestyle. We are slowly planning to go overseas by gaining a toehold and testing the waters in the international market. Our research suggests that what we do as a food and nutrition company will be highly accepted by consumers worldwide. The device that will change the way diabetes management and diagnosis are carried out is also a part of the growth plan to succeed in the health and nutrition market.
