A creamy, tangy cocktail sounds delicious, doesn’t it? With professional mixologists using the smooth and tangy flavours of this ingredient to whip up sublime yoghurt cocktails, their popularity is growing as people are discovering how tasty they can be.

You can simply swap milk for yoghurt in classic cocktails like White Russian, Pina Colada, Chocolate Martini or Brandy Alexander. However, you might want to tweak the recipes a bit so that the flavours shine through the yoghurt instead of straight substitution.

Yoghurt Cocktail Tips

Here are some of the tips to pro yoghurt cocktails

Yoghurt In Cocktails

Plain yoghurt lets you control the sweetness of the cocktail. With the right blend, you can craft a perfectly balanced cocktail. When the weather's hot, frozen yoghurt cocktails are a delicious choice. The creaminess and texture make it extra refreshing. Simply blend frozen yoghurt into your favourite fruity drinks with a dash of the right alcohol for a cool treat on a hot day.

Garnishes For Yoghurt Cocktails

Some of the garnishes for yoghurt cocktails are fresh fruits, herbs like thyme, basil, mint. Cinnamon stick or citrus twist can also be used for garnishing. Cocoa or nutmeg powder, chocolate shavings, caramel or chocolate syrups are also an option for garnish.

Health Considerations With Yoghurt Cocktails

Yoghurt cocktails may not agree with everyone. If you're lactose intolerant, opt for lactose-free yoghurt. Portion control is key, as these drinks pack in calories. Watch your alcohol intake too. Most of all, avoid ingredients that may cause intolerance or allergies. Moderation is wise.

How Long Will Yoghurt Cocktails Keep?

Cocktails are best served fresh and must be savoured within 20 minutes of being served ideally. Yoghurt cocktails may take a bit longer to finish as they can be creamy and filling. While yoghurt can keep well in the fridge for about a day or two, the yoghurt-based cocktail may not stay out or taste great any longer than an hour. However, yoghurt liqueur can be kept for 15 days if refrigerated well and frozen yoghurt cocktail versions may make it 3 days in the freezer. For maximum life, skip the ice and soda when mixing. The less water, the better.
