Cooking for a large group of party workers and representatives during one of the most nail-biting counting days for India following the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP headquarters in New Delhi was abuzz with activity. As everyone awaited the final results with bated breath, delicious food was made available to those present at the venue where mountains of deep-fried puris were being made, along with large utensils brimming with dal simmering on makeshift stoves. RJ Ginnie Mahajan, who divulged being present to review the buffet-style service, shared videos of the all-vegetarian spread on offer.
Amongst the dishes seen were puris to eat with chhole, vegetable-mayo sandwiches and halwa. Aside from this, some of the other popular offerings included sweetened boondi as well as kachoris encasing a spicy filling. The videos that surfaced on social media, including the one Ginnie posted went viral, with netizens sharing mixed views about the festivities which were underway. The canteen located at the headquarters, which has been known to serve ministers street food specials like dahi bhalla, tikkis and chaat with a healthy twist in the past, was the space that was utilised for the preparation of this grand feast.
