Tibetan cuisine shares certain influences with the cuisine of its neighbours, India and Nepal. Mostly comprising of food items such as noodles, meats, dumplings, cheese (often from yak or goat milk), butter, yoghurt and soup.

Tsampa is the most consumed food among the locals of Tibet and it is made out of roasted barley flour and butter tea. Tibetan Momo is another widely popular dish, is often made out of wheat flour, and is enjoyed steamed, fried, or boiled. They are filled with different meats or vegetables and are always served with a special delicious sauce made from tomatoes, chillies, and garlic. 

Other popular Tibetan dishes include sha phaley (stuffed bread), balep korkun (flatbread), tingmo (steamed bun), thenthuk (a kind of soup), gyurma (blood sausage), masan (a pastry), and Léphing among others.
