Fried foods are a common type of street food in India often made of ingredients such as potatoes, onions, spinach, and paneer. Known as pakoras or bhajia, it is any bite-sized vegetable that has been coated in a delicious gram flour batter and then deep-fried to perfection.
Batata Vada or potato fritters are a popular snack in Maharashtra and have influences from Portuguese cuisine, consisting of mash patty coated in chickpea flour, then deep-fried and served with green or tamarind chutney. Bread Pakora is another batter-fried food served with a variety of chutneys.
Some other Indian fried foods are brinjal fritters, paneer chilli pakora, aloo tikki and medu vada.
