Quiz: Get your Chaatpata fix!

For Indians, fast food is synonymous with street food, and you can find these indulgences at every street corner. They are cheap and come in numerous varieties. Every Indian city has something to offer when it comes to fast food. Vada pav, misal pav, pav bhaji, khaman, samosa, poha, and puffs are widely loved in the north. Coming to south India, we have vada, vangibath, pongal, dosa, idli, puliyogare, kesaribath, and vegetable bonda.

Samosas are prepared with spicy potatoes and onions stuffed inside the triangular fried or baked dough prepared from white flour and ajwain. They are usually served with green or red chutney. Another fried delicacy is the pakora. Black gram flour batter is mixed with potato, onion, bottle-guard, brinjal, and cauliflower dipped and fried to prepare pakoras.

Street chaats are authentic Indian fast-food dishes. Bhelpuri, dahi papdi chat, sev puri, pani puri, and aloo chana chat are well-loved and readily available anywhere. Aloo (potatoes) items are also relatively common among fast food lovers. Mashing potatoes with spices and frying them to get crispy tikkis is a go-to snack among Indians. Almost all fast-food street stalls serve hot chai, coffee, and other beverages to go with snacks.
