Peppermint, Spearmint, Pineapple mint, Apple mint, Orange mint, Water mint, Horsemint - there are about 600 types of mint plants found worldwide.
Cuisines around the world use mint in their food in multiple ways. It is used in ice-creams, jellos, syrups, and candies when it comes to snacks, but its use in savoury dishes gives them a unique taste.
Mint is used in spice mixtures in different cultures to either enhance or neutralise the effect of other spices. For example, it is used in Indian chutneys, often to mask the other dominant flavors; in Malaysia, it is mixed with noodle spices, and in the United States and England, it is used to marinate meat.
With people slowly discovering the health benefits of mint, it is increasingly becoming a solid, experimental component to different dishes.
