Though it started as a homebrew during Prohibition, Michigan is the birthplace of official winemaking. The first cherry winemakers in the country were Michigan's cherry farmers in the 1980s; ever since the state has made cherry wine annually and shipped beautiful bottles of cherry wine around the world. Twenty-five percent of the wines that Michigan vineyards sell these days are cherry wines.
While cherries are tasty, are cherry wines healthy as well? Without a doubt, the answer is yes! Like red wine, cherry wines are heart-healthy due to their anti-inflammatory qualities and high antioxidant content.
So, what is the best way to sip cherry wine? Cherry wine is best served chilled and should be finished within a year of bottling. Beyond that, you can enjoy it however you choose! Cherry wines are delicious dessert wines that go well with almost any type of dessert. They can also be the ideal side dish for meats and Asian cuisine. Cherry wine is a great drink by itself or combined with other flavours. Find out more!
Chateau Chantal Cherry Wine
For this well-known cherry wine worldwide, winemakers Mark Johnson and Brian Hosmer have adopted a sophisticated style. Made to bring out the natural flavours and beauty of Montmorency tart cherries from the "Cherry Capital of the World," this garnet-red, semi-sweet wine has almond undertones and a cherry effusion that is neither tart nor sweet. Serve at room temperature or chilled for a special evening with someone you love who likes dry wines. A delicious wine to taste and a sophisticated match for sweets, poultry, and pig dishes.
Hot Rod Cherry Wine
Fresh cherries in the Kroupa family's orchards since the 1800s.Northern Michigan's cherry area provides the black, sweet Ulster and red tart Montmorency cherries used to make Hot Rod Cherry Wine. This combination produces a wine with lots of fruity flavours, aromas, and traces of ginger. This wine goes very well with pizzas and sauces that are barbecued. Hot Rod Cherry is a high-octane cherry experience due to its higher alcohol concentration than typical cherry wines.
Cerise Cherry Port
Winemaker Mark Johnson used the classic port-wine procedure, adding yeast to fresh cherry juice and fermenting it to an 8.5% alcohol level. He then added Chateau Chantal's cherry eau de vie to stop the fermentation, resulting in a 19.2% alcohol content. Tastes like a robust, elegant port with a deep richness of wood smoke, tobacco, and cherries. Perfect as a dinner party nightcap when paired with chocolate or as a sniffer for a chilly night. Amazing, with the medals to prove it.
Vino Florida Sevora (Red Sangria)
"Sangria" means, in English, letting go of inhibitions, losing one's inner monologue completely, and, naturally, waking up the next morning beside Brigitte—or was it Brandy? That isn't the point, though. The twist on classic wine punch strikes the ideal ratio between the sweetness of strawberries, ripe cherries, gala apples, and Seville oranges. Thus, it's acceptable to relax, enjoy yourself, and hope the tattoo fades.
Oliver Cherry Moscato
This easy-to-drink, semi-sweet pink wine from Oliver Winery and Vineyards has a bright, fresh flavour of tart yet luscious, ripe Montmorency cherries that balance its sumptuous sweetness and tropical character. Every sip is finished with a dash of spritz. They source the highest quality Moscato—Muscat Canelli and Muscat Alexander from the West Coast—for this wine and every one of their Wine Series Moscatos. Real Michigan tart cherry juice is then added. Not a single artificial or natural flavour! 6.6% of the resulting semi-sweet wine's volume contains alcohol.
Fu-Ki Cherry
Cherry Fu-Ki Japanese wine includes notes of cherries and almonds, a rich red colour. It tastes of wild, dark cherry, delicate yet strong. It has a clean, mild flavour with minimal alcohol content. Close your eyes, take a seat, and picture yourself strolling in a park in the spring. A soft breeze is rustling delicate petals from the cherry trees in bloom, and a waft of fragrant white flowers is gathering on the ground.
