One thing we love about the ‘food trends’ on the internet is how they perk up some of our most common, everyday foods. Remember the ‘Dalgona coffee’ craze? Didn’t we have quite a workout whipping the coffee powder and milk for the perfect froth? This year, we have seen many captivating trends, from grated eggs on toast, where you grate a boiled egg on a toast to ‘lettuce chips’ where you simply tear the lettuce leaves and toss it with lime juice, Himalayan salt, black pepper etc, we had quite a variety. Another food trend that is becoming quite a rage even among Hollywood is ‘Pizza Toast’.
A few weeks ago, inspired by the ongoing trend, model Hailey Bieber shared her recipe of Pizza toast, and it became an instant hit. The reel has collected over 1.8 million views so far. To make her toast, Hailey takes cut slices of sourdough bread and spreads butter on both sides. Further, she drizzled some truffle oil on top and grills it on the pan until it turns golden brown on both sides. Then she uses thinly-cut slices of tomatoes and lands it on top of the toasted bread, but before that she dresses it with olive oil, salt and lemon juice.
Then she places fresh burrata cheese on top of the toasted bread, and then adds a bit of grated Parmesan cheese on top of the tomatoes as well. The toast is then placed in the oven for 10 minutes at 190 degrees Celsius until the cheese is completely melted. Finally, some heated marinara sauce is spread on top of the toast, and some more Parmesan cheese is added on top, then the toast is seasoned with oregano and herbs.
The sensational recipe got a thumbs up online. TikTok, Instagram and other social media sites are filled with recipes and versions of pizza toast. People are experimenting with the toppings and the cheese. It sure looks like one of the ‘good’ food trends that should stand the test of time. Have you tried your hands at the pizza toast, yet?
