When wars break between two countries, countless lives are lost and affected, but in hindsight are the researchers and conspiracy theorists who dig deeper to see if the signs of conflict existed before anyone could see them. Baba Vanga, a Bulgarian seer, and Nostradamus, a French astrologer, have their names etched in history for predicting cruel tragedies that have come true in time.
Amid the recent conflict between Israel and Iran, which broke out on June 13, 2025, a theory resurfaced which linked the spike in pizza sales with the war. The phenomenon is called Pentagon Pizza Theory, and it was first coined in August 1990, when Frank Meeks, a Domino’s franchisee in Washington, witnessed a spike in pizza deliveries to the CIA buildings. The next day, reports of Iraq invading Kuwait made headlines.

In December 1998, Meeks reported noticing a similar pattern during the impeachment hearings of President Bill Clinton. This is not an official theory or something that people keep track of in intelligence offices, but it keeps resurfacing on the web. The reason why it is making headlines amid the Israel-Iran conflict is both baffling and intriguing.
Pentagon Pizza Theory: How It Predicted the Israel-Iran War
The official account on Pentagon Pizza Report on X posted a few bar graphs on June 13, 2025, and the caption read, “As of 6:59pm ET nearly all pizza establishments nearby the Pentagon have experienced a Huge surge in activity.” Later, it shared that the activities in those locations dropped significantly around 7:10pm ET.
This was an hour before the news regarding Israel attacking Iran started flooding the internet. The account shared another report and captioned it, “With about an hour left before close, the 2nd closest Dominos to the Pentagon (about 8 min drive) is experiencing EXTREMELY high levels of traffic compared to a normal Thursday at about 11:00 pm ET."
Why Is It Called Pentagon Theory?
The concept started taking shape during the era of the Cold War when the Soviet operatives also witnessed a surge in pizza delivery activities and reported to their heads in Moscow. They suggested that America was planning something big.
The theory got this name because it is associated with the increase in sales of pizza in the outlets near the Pentagon building in Arlington County, Virginia. It is an office of the United States Department of Defense.
It was only a theory, but over time, it has proved to be true. There is another page called Pentagon Pizza Index that reportedly uses open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools, including Google Maps, to track real-time pizza sales and note any spike.
However, a Pentagon spokesperson has reportedly come forward to dismiss any relation to the theory stating that officers in the Pentagon building could order pizza from the outlets on the premises, along with sandwiches, sushi, doughnuts, etc. It is also interesting to note that US President Donald Trump has also made it clear on Truth Social that the country had no role in the recent Israel-Iran conflict.
