Patanjali's Elaichi Soan Papdi Fails Food Quality Test

Patanjali, the brand owned by Baba Ramdev, has now faced another failure. In the latest update, the Elaichi Soan Papdi has failed the food quality test. Which has resulted in six months in prison. The violating food safety standards in the production of the brand's popular Elaichi Soan Papdi, the court has charged fines ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹25,000. This was not only for the company but for the local shops selling these products as well.

Patanjali Soan Papdi Fails Food Quality Test

The recent court ruling in Pithoragarh highlights the critical importance of food safety standards and quality control measures. The case led to the details, where the prosecution, which was led by Assistant Prosecution Officer Ritesh Verma, explained that food quality tests are essential to ensure consumer safety and protect public health. In this case, samples of the Patanjali soan papdi product were collected from a local shop on September 17, 2019, and sent to the National Laboratory in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh for comprehensive testing.

The food quality test, which was done by the accredited national laboratory, shows the analysis of the product's manufacturing process, ingredients, and compliance with the food safety guidelines.

These tests showed factors like the use of permitted food additives, adherence to hygiene standards, and the absence of harmful contaminants. The results of these tests proved that the Patanjali Soan Papdi failed to meet the guidelines of food quality checks. The Pithoragarh Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sanjay Singh, subsequently handed down sentences of six months imprisonment and fines ranging from 5,000 to 25,000 rupees on the three individuals found guilty.

Previously, in 2017, Patanjali’s Divya Amla Juice and Shivlingi Beej also failed to meet the quality guidelines for food quality checks. The report showed that 31.68% of foreign matter in Shivlingi Beej and amla juice had less than the prescribed limit of pH value. After this incident now Patanjali Elaichi soan papdi has faced the failure of food quality check.
