After a long wait, MasterChef India’s new season is about to drop and we all are too excited. It has been a long time since we witnessed some amazing cooks from across the country showcasing their talent and getting mentored by the leading chefs of the country.

The upcoming season 7 of the show is making an epic comeback after being halted due to the pandemic. MasterChef India’s season 6 was won by Abinas Nayak from Odisha. Now, MasterChef's 7th season is all set to air from 2nd Jan 2023 on Sony Liv and Sony Tv. So, get ready!!

On Tuesday, Masterchef India season 7’s media round was conducted and journalists from leading media houses were invited. OTTplay’s Arundhuti Banerjee participated and won the round with her amazing cooking skills. She made a tempting and delicious fruit tart that left everybody drooling. Arundhuti while sharing her experience with Slurrp, said that it was no less than a challenge to cook something in just 30 minutes. We were given a mystery box and asked to choose the ingredients from the same.

The box contained zucchini, oats, chocolate, strawberry, and other items. We chose oats, strawberries, chocolate, and sorrel flower from the mystery box and decided to make a tart’. Other ingredients like butter and maida were there in the regular pantry.

It was truly a challenge as we had to come up with a dish then and there and time constraint was always there, she added. Arundhuti was accompanied by a journalist Sonu from Zoom Tv and a MasterChef contestant Aruna Vijaya. It was the hard work of the trio that made them succeed. Judges Vikas Khanna, Ranveer Brar, and Garima Arora appreciated how the right ingredients were chosen and how the flavours emerged out perfectly. It was the ‘khatta-meetha’ combination that stole the show, added Arundhuti.

The fruit tart made by Arundhuti won hearts because of its minimal ingredients and amazingly sweet-and-sour combination of chocolate, sorrel, and strawberry. This little scrumptious tart was the show stealer and made OTT play to win! Wanna know the recipe of this amazingly delicious tart?? Don’t worry, we have sorted it out for you! Follow the steps below and thank us later!

Ingredients

  • 50 gm regular oats
  • ¼ cup maida
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ dark chocolate bar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 5 to 6 strawberries
  • Some sorrel flowers

Method

  • Start by grinding oats to a fine powdered form.
  • Take a bowl and add the powdered oats. Add maida and butter.
  • Combine everything together and make a dough-like consistency.
  • Take a small portion of the dough and roll it. Give it a tart-like shape and place it in the mould.
  • Put it in a preheated oven and let it bake for 12 to 13 minutes.
  • Take half a dark chocolate bar and chop it into pieces. Melt it in a pan or through a double boiling process.
  • Heat another pan and add some water. Add the cleaned sorrel flowers and let it boil for some time.
  • Once it's boiled, use a hand blender to blend the boiled sorrels and put it back on the stove to form a jam-like consistency.
  • Add sugar to it and let it cook a little more. When done, turn off the flame and let the jam cool.
  • Meanwhile, take out the tart if it’s done and let it cool. Make sure you cool it properly or else it will break.
  • After everything comes down to a normal temperature, place the tart and spread a layer of sorrel jam over it.
  • Add a layer of melted chocolate and garnish it with strawberry pieces.

Serve!!
