Orange Creamsicle Cake: Time To Turn Baker With The Easy Dessert

Or friends and parents ask, what cake do we take to the party? Now, stop ordering cakes and bake one instead. Here is a fun recipe for an Orange Creamsicle Cake, which takes just 45 minutes to make and involves a preparation time of 40 minutes. 

Surprise loved ones on their birthdays/anniversaries with this yummy cake. The Orange Creamsicle Cake is named after the popsicle brand ‘Creamsicle’. Here are the ingredients and the recipe for the cake.

Ingredients:

  • 2½ cups cake flour
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup butter, softened at room temperature
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • Candied orange zest

For the creamsicle layer:

  • 2 cups cream cheese, softened at room temperature
  • 1 (14-ounce) can be sweetened condensed milk
  • Zest and juice of 1 navel orange
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For orange curd:

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • Zest of 1 navel orange
  • ¼ cup fresh-squeezed orange juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup butter, cubed and chilled in the fridge

Method:

1. First of all, we preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then take a parchment paper and cover a cake pan with it. Also, use baking spray on the paper 

2. In a small to medium bowl, add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Put it aside. In another bowl mix together eggs and vanilla

3. In a big bowl, add cream, butter, and sugar. Now add the egg mixture that we had prepared. Keep adding  the flour mixture and the buttermilk until completely mixed or combined together

4. Pour the batter into the cake pan which we had lined with parchment paper and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Now check using a toothpick, if it comes out clean set it aside to cool

5. Once cooled, poke holes into the cake and pour the curd into the cake pan. Now put into the fridge to cool

6. Use a piping bag fitted with a star tip to top the creamsicle layer with a lot of whipped cream 

7. Top with orange zest and serve.

For the creamsicle layer:

1. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese till it forms a mix. Add sweetened condensed milk, orange zest, juice, and vanilla

2. Next, take 1/3rd of the mixture and pour it into the pan with curd

3. Place in the freezer to set. This should take about 3 hours. Add orange juice and zest  to the remaining batter and pour over the vanilla layer

4. This goes back in the freezer for 3 hours again so that it sets properly

For the orange curd:

1. In a saucepan, add yolks, sugar, zest, and juice. Cook on medium flame, stirring continuously till the mixture thickens. This should take approximately 7 to 8 minutes

2. Remove from the flame. Add butter and salt and transfer it to a heat-proof bowl

3. Keep in the fridge for 2 hours to chill
