Old Delhi Station To Get A 24-Hour Food Plaza

Weary travellers passing through Old Delhi Station are set to have a new and luxurious spot to rest and refuel with the arrival of a new 24x7 Food Plaza. Bird Catering & Lounges, one of the country’s largest and most diversified names in hospitality recently announced the opening of a new, fully-equipped facility at this iconic heritage site.

One of the busiest train stations in India with 291 trains passing through it every day, Old Delhi Station is located in the iconic Delhi 6 Zone, close to the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk and serves as a hub for both tourists and locals exploring the city. The project has been greenlit by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and promises to offer a variety of modern amenities from food services to free Wi-Fi.

The plaza seats 220 and is set to offer a range of delicious food options from classic Indian street foods – with a special emphasis on the flavours of Old Delhi. Visitors have the opportunity to relish rejuvenating masala chai and samosas, as well as value combo meals, sandwiches, traditional dishes like chole bhature, vegetarian and non-vegetarian thalis, paranthas, salads, Chinese street food, chicken tikka kathi rolls, and a variety of South Indian cuisine. The menu also encompasses Western fast food offerings like burgers and pizzas that can be accompanied by a range of drinks and desserts.

The plaza is also set to follow sustainable practices to make the state–of–the–art facility as eco-friendly as possible. From waste reduction and recycling initiatives to following sustainable sourcing guides for their ingredients, a plan has been outlined to streamline every step of the process. They also plan for the plaza to support completely plastic-free packaging, opting instead to only use paper products.

This plaza with its comfortable seating and well-lit cosy setting will provide a secure and relaxing destination for late night travellers and a delicious bite for anyone looking to fuel up for the next leg of their journey.
