Image Credit: Pixabay, From English breakfast to the authentic Rajasthani fare, you will find it all at Udaipur.

The city of lakes left us mesmerized with its beauty as soon as we set foot on its soil. The grand and palatial heritage sites like City Palace along with the glittering waters of Lake Pichola makes it hard for you to not fall in love with city. Taking a stroll in the market near our hotel, we came across several small shops and food stalls brimming with clothes, food and people. Since it was 11 in the morning, we were looking for a place to satiate our hunger. We stopped by one of them and I opted for a mirchi bada. The huge green chilli, deseeded and stuffed with a spicy potato filling was batter-fried in gram flour and served hot.

Throughout our vacation, we dined at places, big and small, lavish and compact and loved the food everywhere. Not only would you find the traditional Rajasthani breakfast quite alluring, it is the grand breakfast buffets at several heritage restaurants that would take you by surprise. Now that we’ve come this far, how about taking a dig at the best breakfast in town. Here are our recommendations.

1.  Jheel’s Ginger Coffee And Bakery

Hidden away in one of the busy lanes of Udaipur’s Chandpole market near Gangaur Ghat, Jheel’s café offers a great indoor and rooftop ambience. With a view of Jal Mahal, the restaurant has an elaborate fare that is purely vegetarian. From light and cheesy grilled sandwiches to pastas, pizzas and pies, you would have a lot to devour.

2.   Lala Mishthan Bhandar

Capturing the essence of Rajasthani flavours of the past few decades, there is a reason why Lala ki kachori is quite a rage among the locals and tourists alike. Crunchy, crispy and full of taste, they only do kachoris and excel at them. Served with a tangy tamarind chutney, they also have a range of sweets of offer in case you want to get some packed on your way back home.

3.  Fakhri Sandwich

The rich Rajasthani fare can get overwhelming at times so might need a break after one or two days. We suggest that you head to this old sandwich shop then. It is no ordinary shop because it offers a classic Arabian spread in the heart of kachoris and pakoras. Indulge in some keema samosa, mutton keema, kebabs, egg sandwiches are more at Fakhri sandwich.
