No-Cook Diwali: The Fusion Avocado And Aloo Chaat Can Be Put Together In 15 Minutes

Classics have our heart, but our tummy can always make room for something new and exciting, don’t you agree? Now while, fusion food almost always provokes strong reactions; but as true foodies, we must give everything its due chance. Never in my wildest imagination did I think that I would like momo burgers, but now I am obsessed. Similarly, before I tried avocado, I never understood the craze, but now that I have had delicacies like avocado green curry, avocado fries and avocado egg benedict, I can very well see the versatile side of the stone fruit and all that it can be, if given a chance. With the festive season upon us, we are headed for a joyride of flavours. How about making it flavourful yet slightly healthy at the same time. It is not as difficult as you think.

What Makes Avocado A Lovely Chaat Ingredient

The subtleness of avocados can make for an excellent addition to chaat. No seriously, think about it. The fruit is not outrightly sweet, salty or citrusy. Instead, it has an excellent buttery flavour which will ground your chaat. Besides, you can continue to use your usual chaat staples like potatoes, sweet curd, mint chutney, pomegranate etc.

In this recipe, the Executive Chef of The Leela Bhartiya City Bengaluru, JP Singh, tells us how we can use premium quality avocados to elevate our humble boiled aloo chaat.

This Avocado Aloo chaat serves one. The chef has used Hass Avocado, a superior cultivar of avocado with creamy, flavourful flesh and firm, dark green skin for the recipe. As it happens with chaat, you can add or eliminate elements as per your liking. Not a fan of sweet chutney? Do away with it. Need more boiled potatoes? Go ahead by all means. However, two of the ingredients that we would recommend you retain are sev and fried onions. Both of these are essential for adding more crunch to the dish and enhancing it texturally.
