Navratri Special: Instant Vrat Kadhi To Keep You Energised All Day Long

We are all quite excited because everyone's favourite festival of joy, Navratri, is finally here. Today is the first day of Navratri, which marks the celebration and worship of nine incarnations of Mata Durga while honouring feminine spirit and women power. On this auspicious festival, people celebrate and observe a 9-day fast as a part of a ritual and old tradition. During these nine days, most people are constantly searching for suitable vrat recipes and tips to follow. One of the vrat-friendly dishes you can enjoy is Singhare ki kadhi. Singhara, also known as water chestnut flour, is ideal to use during fasting days which is used in making many dishes. Singhare ki kadhi is tasty, easy to cook and relatively healthy for all, making it a must to enjoy peace at home. Here is the procedure to make it at home. 

Ingredients-

  • 250g Singhade ka atta ( water chestnut flour)
  • 1 ½ tablespoon Sendha namak
  • Half tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • Oil for frying 
  • 50ml curd

Method for preparation-

  • Take a bowl, add a few green chillies, salt and water chestnut flour (150g). Beat the mixture well and also add half a tablespoon of black paper into it. 
  • For making pakoras, heat a pan with oil and start pouring this mixture. Fry till they become brownish and crispy. 
  • Take another bowl and add the remaining water chestnut flour along with curd. Add some more black pepper and salt as per taste. Whisk the mixture well.
  • Take another pan and heat it with ghee; add cumin seeds into it. Once the cumin seeds begin to crackle, add the mixture of curd finely chopped green chilli. 
  • Lastly, add the pakoras into the kadhi and let everything cook well for 10-15 minutes. 
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot. Then, enjoy your kadhi with singhara puri.
