Masterchef Australia's Kishwar Chowdhury Enjoys Benne Dosa & Filter Coffee In Chennai

Kishwar Chowdhury – Masterchef Australia’s Season 13 runner-up – who has been spending some quality time soaking up the culture of Chennai, recently shared pictures of her latest local obsession – the benne dosa. Stepping out for breakfast over the weekend along with her Masterchef India pal, Aruna Vijay – the two decided to hit up the branch of Sangeetha Veg Restaurant in the RA Puram locality, which is an iconic chain serving up some of the most delicious South Indian food across many parts of Tamil Nadu.

Kishwar’s meal, which included a perfectly browned dosa soaking in ghee and layered with a spicy chutney on the inside, came with a serving of sambar, coconut chutney and a spicy tomato chutney on the side. Sharing a glimpse of her meal, the acclaimed chef also went on to offer her audience a sneak peek of the bustling kitchen where idli batter was being ladled into moulds as an adjacent cast iron dosa pan was being swept with a broom. A tray containing bowls of sambar was perched at the pass while cauldrons filled with green and white chutneys also stood below the service stations.

To wash down the meal, Kishwar and Aruna also sipped on frothy filter coffee – which is a beverage that is staple to the locals. Keeping up with the culture of the Chennaiites, Kishwar attempted to transfer the hot beverage from the steel tumbler to the cup – a la the servers, spilling some in the process. Joking about becoming an expert at pouring the coffee with skill, Kishwar captioned her set of photos and videos saying, “Benne Dosa & Filter Coffee breakfast in Chennai with my Masterchef India food friend @aruna_vijay_masterchef.”
