If you enjoy experimenting with different foods at home and are a potato fan, these tips will come in helpful. Roasted potatoes are comfort food that not only tastes great but also goes well with a creamy dip or ketchup. If you frequently bake roasted potatoes at home but run into a number of issues, here are some life-saving tricks for you.

1. Peel Or Not?

Pat the potatoes dry after thoroughly washing and cleaning them. It is now up to you whether or not you peel them. You can chop them into huge chunks, wedges, or whatever shape you choose. If the skin is too thin, the potatoes can be peeled. If the skin is too thick, the potatoes can be peeled.

2. How To Avoid Browning?

Because of the oxidation process, potatoes quickly develop brown areas after peeling. When they are peeled, they come into touch with oxygen, and their starch content interacts with it, turning them brown. Here's how to keep your potatoes from turning brown after peeling. Place the potatoes in a dish of cold water after peeling them. Squeeze in half a lemon or a tbsp of vinegar. This stops the browning process. This approach comes in handy when you're prepping potatoes ahead of time and need to roast them later.

3. Coldwater Bath

If you're going to roast the potatoes and are chopping them right away, you'll need to get rid of the excess starch. Put the chopped potatoes in a bowl and soak them in cold water for a few minutes. You may alternatively rinse them by placing them in a strainer and filling it with ice-cold water.

4. Parboil

Parboiling potatoes before roasting them is usually advised because it lowers cooking time. Furthermore, when parboiled potatoes are roasted, they get crispy on the outside while remaining creamy on the inside. Chop the potatoes into pieces before parboiling. Place them in a water-filled pan. Bring the water to a boil, then add the salt. Allow them to boil for a few more minutes before draining the extra water.

5. Preheat The Oven

Before roasting them, always preheat your oven. Before inserting the baking tray, it should be hot enough. Heat it for at least 6-10 minutes at 190°C-200°C.

6. Season And Roast Them Till Perfection

Now, chop the potatoes and place them in a bowl. Season with salt, black pepper, chilli flakes, fresh garlic, herbs, olive oil, paprika, cumin powder, and lemon juice to taste.

After your potatoes have been thoroughly seasoned, place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place them in a preheated oven. Allow them to bake for 20-30 minutes, depending on how crispy you want them.
