The brilliance and versatility of South Indian cuisine is not lost on some of the brilliant minds in Bollywood – and Konkona Sen Sharma would attest to that. Not long after relishing an all-vegetarian fare with frequent collaborator and actress, Tillotama Shome, Konkona has yet again been charmed by some delicious Keralite food. Unlike her previous meal which exuded sattvic goodness, the actress’ lunch from yesterday was all about the meat-heavy culinary glory from God’s own country.

Ordering in from Mumbai-based restaurant Nair On Fire – which is known to dish some lip-smacking home-style delicacies – her elaborate feast included the red matta rice and a tangy looking raw mango curry. To serve as accompaniments, she relished preparations like the mushroom thoran, thattukada prawn fry, Wayanad egg roast, Kerala fried chicken and Suriani fish cutlet. In addition to this, the meal also included flaky Kerala parotta and Trivandrum b**f pepper fry, along with papadum. Although not in the picture, Konkona shared a peek of the full menu, in which the smoked coconut chutney, thattu appam and Suriani b** pickle were listed as accompaniments.

If this wasn’t enough to make your mouth water, the actress also ended her meal with sweet treats of tender coconut pudding and aravana payasam – a delicacy of rice cooked with jaggery, ghee, spices and dry fruits. Sharing her appreciation for the meal, Konkona posted pictures of her plates with emojis to express her feelings. In what appeared to be a true reflection of regional cooking, the restaurant is also popular for serving up unique meals like the pothichoru – an all-encompassing Kerala meal parcelled in banana leaves, as well as classics like the chicken 65, pulisseri and meen curry.
