Summers bring with it a bountiful of seasonal fruits and veggies that are just the perfect fix for the sweltering heat in India. Summer fruits like mango, watermelon, muskmelon, wood apple, kokum, plum and more are cool and hydrating. One such popular fruit is pineapple. Sweet and juicy, pineapple - known as anaras in Hindi - comes with a lot of water content, making it a super healthy fruit too. But what makes pineapple stand out is the balance of flavours. It’s neither too sweet nor too tangy. Perhaps, that is what makes it super versatile too. Besides, pineapple comes with multiple health benefits. A great source of Vitamin B and C as well as fibres, the summer fruit has several essential minerals.
The other thing unique about it is its appearance - the fruit is known for its spiky outer layer and crunchy, yellow pulp. And due to its hard peel, many of us find it extremely difficult to cut a pineapple. This is often the reason a lot of people avoid buying the whole fruit. If you are one of those missing out on the benefits of pineapple simply because you struggle to cut the fruit, celebrity chef Kunal Kapur is here to help. He recently shared a video on social media, where he showed an easy way to dice and chop the fruit.
In the clip, the chef first cuts off the top (the crown) and base of the fruit and removes those two parts. Next, he places the pineapple in a vertical position and slices the outer cover into large strips. He repeats the process from all the sides to get rid of the outer skin completely. If there are any brown parts, he suggests cutting them too. He then simply slits the pineapple from the middle, divides it into chunks, and places them on a chopping board. He further chops them into small, bite-sized chunks before serving them.

Chef Kapur often shares some genius tips, tricks and hacks that can make cooking a lot easier and quick. For instance, on an earlier occasion, he had shared a hack to cut carrots. For this, he first takes a carrot and places it flat on a chopping board. After that, he gently removes the outer skin using a peeler. He then moves the peeler against the upper side of the carrot to remove the outer skin there as well. Finally, he eliminates the tip (upper part) of the carrot. Interesting, right?
