Kartik Aaryan’s Gujarati Indulgence Is Worth Drooling For

Versatile actor Kartik Aaryan is an absolute foodie and there have been several instances to prove this. Not only the actor is fond of eating outside but he also loves ghar ka khana. The actor travels a lot and he never fails to have a taste of the local cuisine. He gives us a lot of foodie inspiration!

Kartik has been currently shooting for his upcoming project Satyaprem Ki Katha in Ahmedabad alongside Kiara Advani. He shared a story on his Instagram handle while having some delicious Gujarati food. In the story, the actor has shared a picture of two identical Gujarati thalis with some authentic dishes including dhokla both yellow and white, fafda, jalebi, khandvi, sev topped with coriander leaves and pomegranate seeds, one sabji, and one curry. All these Gujarati snacks are amazing, but my favourite is fafda. This light snack is so delicious and when paired with jalebi, it can literally take you to foodie heaven. Those who are not Gujarati may find it hard to make this scrumptious snack at home. And those who know, may have been struggling to make it with perfection. But don’t worry, we have your back! We have shared the recipe of this amazing snack that you can make at home. So, follow the steps below and feel what Kartik Aaryan would have felt while eating that thali!!

Fafda

Ingredients

  • 1 cup besan
  • ¼ tsp ajwain
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp haldi
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 3 to 4 tbsp water
  • Oil for frying

Method

  • Take a bowl and add besan, soda, ajwain, haldi, oil, and salt in it.
  • Mix everything together.
  • Then, add water and knead all the ingredients into a soft dough.
  • When done, take a portion from the dough and keep it on a surface (greased properly).
  • Now, drag the dough in a straight line using the base of your palm. Do this while holding the dough’s starting point with one hand.
  • When you do this, you will see a strip formed.
  • Cut these strips and fry them in hot oil until crisp.
  • It gets fried quickly so make sure you give it proper attention.
  • When done, drain out the excess oil and let it cool.
  • Serve it with any chutney or jalebi.

Enjoy!
