It’s coffee o clock all round the day for Karisma Kapoor, who can always be spotted on her Instagram story, enjoying the beverage and expressing fondness for it. Karisma recently posted a photo of her cup of coffee to her Instagram story and captioned it “coffee and me,” with an emoji of a heart made from coffee beans. A slice of cake could also be seen near her cup of coffee. This is not the first time that Karisma has taken to social media to post photos of coffee. Quite recently, she had posted a similar story. The actresses also keeps posting photos of ‘gupshup over coffee,’ with her sister and actress Kareena Kapoor. Karisma is quite the foodie and her social media is full of photos of dinner parties, and sumptuous dishes.
Coffee cake:
Ingredients:
For the coffee sponge
- Two and a half tablespoons of baking powder
- Two hundred and twenty grams of brown sugar
- Four medium eggs
- Two hundred grams of butter at room temperature
- Two tablespoons of milk
- Three tablespoons of instant coffee powder - or coffee granules ground to a powder
- salt
- Two hundred grams of plain flour
For the coffee buttercream
- One fourth tablespoon of vanilla extract
- Eight tablespoons of instant coffee
- Four hundred grams of icing sugar
- Milk
- Two hundred grams of butter at room temperature
Method :
Make the coffee sponge
- Pre-heat your oven to 160ºC and
- line two 20cm round sandwich tins with greaseproof paper.
- Put all of the cake ingredients into a large bowl and beat with electric mixer the ingredients are seamlessly mixed.
- Split the mixture between the two prepared tins. Then bake for 35 minutes.
- Once the cakes are cooked, remove them from the oven. Leave them to cool in their tins for about 15 minutes before removing them from the tins and moving them out to cool completely.
Make the coffee buttercream
- While the cakes are cooling start making the buttercream. Begin by mixing together the instant coffee powder with the boiling water and then set it aside to cool.
- In a large bowl beat the butter and vanilla extract and add the icing sugar and beat again until the mixture is well combined.
- Gradually add the coffee mixture, 1 tablespoon at a time. After each addition beat the buttercream so that the coffee is completely combined before more is added
Build the cake
- Place the bottom layer of your coffee sponge onto a large dish. Spread coffee buttercream evenly across the sponge.
- Add the top layer of sponge. Again spread the coffee buttercream on top.
- Enjoy alongside a hot cup of coffee
