Janmashtami: Make The Drink Of Gods, Charanamrit

The eighth tithi, or Ashtami, of the Krishna Paksha falls on Shravan Maas or Bhadrapada, and is known as Janmashtami or Krishna Janmashtami. Worshippers of Lord Krishna worship him on this day, which is also a joyous occasion to commemorate his birth. Krishna Janmashtami in the year 2022 will fall on Friday, August 19, according to the Hindu lunar calendar. To honour the festive day, people participate in joyful activities and adhere to customs. To dress up the dwellings, rangolis are drawn. In order to observe Gokulashtami, Lord Krishna's statues are cleaned and placed in cradles. Additionally, special foods are made to commemorate the day and excite the palate. One special drink in which Lord Krishna is bathed is known as Charanamrit or Panchamrit.  

You can see how much Lord Krishna adores milk and dairy goods. During the midnight celebration of this auspicious holiday, one must unquestionably make some delectable dishes that reflect Lord Krishna's fondness of milk and milk products. 

Usually served as prasad in temples, panchamrit is a sacred drink composed with five ingredients: milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar. After being sacrificed to the gods, panchamrit is subsequently given out as prasad to the devotees. Panchamrit was one of the components that appeared during the Samudra Manthan, according to Mahabharta. Panch, which means five, and Amrit, which means nectar of immortality, combine to form the word Panchamrit. Because of this, Panchamrit is also known as Drink of Gods. 

Each of the five elements that go into making Panchamrit has a special meaning. Ghee is for strength and triumph, whilst milk is for purity and pietydevotion. Bees create honey, hence honey is a symbol of commitment and cooperation. Curd is a sign of prosperity, whereas sugar is about sweetness and happiness. 

Here is how you can prepare at home 

Ingredients:  

1 cup milk 

¼ cup curd 

1 tsp honey 

1 tbsp ghee 

1 tsp sugar 

Method:  

Pour milk and curd into a container. To combine them, stir them with a spoon. Now fill the container with honey, ghee, and sugar. Mix it up nicely. Serve the Panchamrit garnished with tulsi leaves.To add flavour to Panchamrit, you can also add gangajal, rose water, or dry fruits. 

Every year, Janmashtami is observed to celebrate the anniversary of Lord Krishna's birth. Making Panchamrit on this special day is a great way to celebrate because Lord Krishna was known for his love of milk, ghee, curd, and other dairy products. 

According to tradition, panchamrit boosts the immune system, sharpens the mind, and balances Pitta Dosha. Obviously, this holy beverage can work wonders for you. 

It is considered to benefit the Sapt Dhatu, the seven bodily tissues: Asthi Dhatu (bone and teeth), Medas Dhatu (fatty tissues), Mamsa Dhatu (muscle tissues), Rakta Dhatu (blood), and Rasa Dhatu (reproductive tissues), as well as Majja Dhatu (bone marrow and nerve tissues) (plasma for strength, immunity and vitality).
