Internet Shaken By Viral Dry Fruit Omelette In Gurugram

Dripping in butter, loaded with the usual fix-ins of a masala omelette and sandwiching four slices of white bread is hardly the beginning of yet another ridiculous internet food sensation. In the series of the most unusual food combinations that has left netizens polarised, Gurugram’s dry fruit omelette has left social media users wondering what’s going on. In a video posted by @youtubeswadofficial, a street vendor starts off by plopping a large dollop of butter into a pan, followed by onions, tomatoes, green chillies and grated ginger.

Then he goes on to crack 10 eggs in a bowl, whisking them rigorously before pouring in a steady stream into the frying pan. This is followed by soaking the slices of bread in the runny egg and turning them over so that they can be embedded into the omelette. Once the omelette is halfway done, the vendor transfers it to a plate from the pan, going on to add more butter before returning it to brown slightly. A sprinkle of an assortment of spices and coriander later, the omelette is cut into quarters before it is stacked in a plate again, over a bed of lettuce.

As if this wasn’t over-the-top enough, the vendor heats up more butter to pour over the waiting omelette and tops it up with sliced onions, green chillies and cubed tomato which have been sauteed over a high heat. Few squeezes of fresh cream, tandoori mayonnaise and paneer add to the already heavy dish that retails at ₹350 per portion. Although a bit much, the dish still held the potential to be delicious, until the vendor piles on a handful of mixed dry fruits – cashews, almonds and raisins in the growing pile of food that was finished off with grated cheese. While some internet users were concerned about a heart attack, others joked about calling the ambulance for anyone who wanted to try it.
