Chana Chaat

Chana chaat gives life to the regular chickpea salad. Appealing to an Indian palate, if you want to make a fuss-free meal, just boil some chickpeas on Usha’s infrared cooktop. Chop some onions, cucumber, tomatoes, and cabbage and mix with boiled chickpeas. Mix in imli chutney, spicy coriander chutney, and a little squeeze of lemon. A generous garnish of pomegranate seeds will make your bowl filling and appetising.

Vegetable Pulao

On the days when you’re running out of time, just mix in the ingredients for vegetable pulao, let the pressure cooker do its magic, and enjoy a 10-minute meal. While you chop the vegetables, soak the rice grains in water. Then, heat some oil or ghee in a pressure cooker, and add jeera and chopped onion. Once the onion is golden brown, stir in the other spices and the assorted vegetables. Add the soaked rice and twice the amount of water as rice. Pressure cook for about 10 minutes, and enjoy your meal with a bowl of raita and a side of salad.

When you don’t know what to cook, make paneer ki bhurji. The comfort food for most Indians, paneer bhurji, can be paired with a freshly prepared phulka, a crispy toast, or mixed with jeera rice. Made with crumbled paneer, your go-to spices, and chopped vegetables, it is a quick yet healthy meal that’s perfect for people who live solo. You can make some extra bhurji and also use as a sandwich or wrap filling for the next day.

Upma

To add a South Indian touch to your breakfast spread, you can make a classic serving of upma. Being a versatile dish, you can make it with sooji, semolina, and even leftover idlis. Just heat some oil and sizzle mustard seeds, curry leaves, chopped slices of onion, boiled peas, and seasonal vegetables. With Usha’s infrared cooktop, the veggies will turn soft faster than you realise. Then, add all the spices, sooji, and give the upma a good stir. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves, and your healthy bowl will be ready to dig into.
