Greetings to Bengaluru's foodies everywhere! You may have tried delicacies from all over the world—traditional North and South Indian, Coastal, Italian, Mediterranean, and Chinese cuisines—but have you ever sampled the unique and deeply established cuisine of North Karnataka? You cannot afford to skip the opportunity to experience the true flavors of jolada rotti, kaalu, andholige, along with the traditional pickles and the unique meal thaali. Although Bengaluru is endowed with the finest hotels and eateries, not all parts of the city provide this fine North Karnataka cuisine.

"Khanavalis" are small and affordable family-style eateries that specialize in North Karnataka cuisine. These eateries are typically run by families, with the most talented and experienced member managing the cooking. In addition to vegetarian options, certain khanavalis provide mouth-watering non-vegetarian dishes like kheema and shakanu chaknu made with unique Savji spices.

Now that you've had a taste of one of the native Indian cuisines in all its splendor, let's have a look at some of what we consider to be the top khanavalis in Karnataka.

If you are not particularly hungry, just choose the rotti, curry, or rice plate.

8.    Kamat Bugle Rock

This is a well-liked dining location in Basavanagudi. You should stop by here if you visit the Bull Temple. The cuisine is of exceptional quality, and they offer a genuine Bengaluru menu. Try North Karnataka cuisine instead of the regular dining options in Kamat Bugle Rock. They provide mouth-watering dishes like Jolada rotti, Soppina Bajji, and Mirchi Bajji, in addition to Yennegai (Brinjal Gravy). I don't advise eating North Indian food, fried rice, or other such snacks. Order North Karnataka Thaali by going there.

9.    Rotti Mane

Rotti Mane is a blessing for North Kannadigas in a place like Indiranagar. The restaurant offers Holige Meals, Jowar Roti, and Chapati Meals, as well as other breakfast options. This is a great spot in an area like Indiranagar but not the finest place for North Karnataka food, in my opinion.
