You know how some dishes become so intrinsic to the identity of a place that they are the first things that come to mind when you think of them. That’s how butter chicken is to Delhi. Although there are umpteen number of delicacies that you might strike you right now, from momos to chaat, the iconic butter chicken has a special place in the hearts of Dilliwallas, leaving no room for replacement. Like the potato and paneer stuffed kulchas with pindi chole are the epitomes of Amritsari fare, it is butter chicken that is the shaan of the capital city.

In fact, the roots of its beginnings in India also began here. Taking a stroll down any well-known area of Delhi, you are sure to find at least one Moti Mahal outlet.
