Have A Cold Press Juicer? Here Is How To Clean It

A cold press juicer is an essential part of the modern-day kitchen, so you can lead a healthy life without spending a hefty amount on buying glasses of fresh juice every day. A cold press juicer is a long-term investment that allows you to lead a healthy lifestyle and drink your favourite juices every day.

The only task that you need to worry about is cleaning the appliance. It might seem like a head-scratcher, but if you follow through the steps, you will be done in no time. This short guide will walk you through the cleaning process so you don’t end up banging your head on the wall or damaging your brand-new Usha’s cold-press juicer.

Unplug and Take Apart Right After Use

Never fail to unplug your cold-press juicer first. Next, carefully remove all the detachable parts — from the feeding chute, auger, juice strainer, and pulp container, to the juice jar. Cleaning it up right away prevents the buildup from drying up and becoming hard to remove, which would otherwise be so easy to clean up. Read through your juicer's guide in case you are not sure how to dismantle it properly.

Clean All Parts With Running Water

Use lukewarm water to rinse out each juicer component carefully. This will eliminate pulp, fibre, and juice residue before they have a chance to dry out and harden. Strainers and augers should receive extra attention because these components have a tendency to trap fine particles. A light rinse right after usage usually avoids any heavy scrubbing later. Never soak electrical components — just use a damp cloth to wipe them clean.

Scrub With a Soft Brush or Sponge

Clean mesh filters, crevices, and blades with the cleaning brush provided by your juicer (or a soft toothbrush). These tend to pick up fine pulp and seeds that can't be washed out completely. Don't use abrasive scrubbers to avoid ruining sensitive components. Pay particular attention to the juice strainer and pulp outlet, which tend to harbour troublesome bits. A circular motion effectively loosens jammed debris without applying too much pressure.

Use Natural Cleaners for Deep Cleaning

For heavier weekly cleaning, submerge parts (other than the motor base) in a solution of warm water, lemon juice, or white vinegar. It aids in juice stain removal, mineral deposit, and residual odour. Leave parts for 10–15 minutes prior to scrubbing and then rinsing completely. Never use abrasive cleaners or bleach because they may alter plastic parts or deposit chemical residues on food-contact surfaces.

Allow All Parts To Air Dry Fully

Once cleaned, place all components on a clean towel or drying rack and let them air dry completely. Avoid reassembling the juicer with wet parts, as moisture can lead to mould growth or motor issues. Ensure the mesh filter is completely dry, as any trapped moisture may affect performance and hygiene. If you’re in a hurry, pat gently with a lint-free cloth.

Wipe Down the Motor Base Carefully

Clean the outside and motor base with a soft, wet cloth. Never immerse or wash the base in water since it can destroy the electrical parts. Be careful of juice spillages or splatters near buttons and vents. A daily clean wipe serves to keep it clean and extend the life of the machine. For tough stains, use a bit of a damp cloth dipped in mild dish soap.
