Gary Mehigan Bids Adieu To Hyderabad With A Biryani Feast

It is no secret that Hyderabadis are obsessed with biryani and the growing fanbase for their regional delicacy, now has a fan from overseas. Gary Mehigan – whose love for India has kept him coming back – this time for a 7-course pop up dinner called ‘Indian Stories With Gary Mehigan And Friends’, was seen enjoying a handi of of Sofiyani biryani from Biryaniwalla & Co., with Goila Butter Chicken’s founder, Saransh Goila.

Gary took to Instagram to share photos and videos of the white biryani variety, which he quoted to be ‘still my favourite’, paired the delicacy with a fiery chicken 65. The chef raved about his experience of enjoying ‘a mountain of chicken and fluffy rice with a big spoonful of lip-numbing chicken 65 on top’ as he makes his way next, to Madurai for Chitthirai – an annual festival celebrating the coronation of Meenakshi Amman.

The comments under Gary’s biryani appreciation post were full of recommendations for the most amazing biryanis down south with some of the users praising the chef for embracing Indian culture in all its glory. The chef seemed to appreciate the ‘good-looking biryani’ in the first video while the other showed a close up of a succulent piece of mutton fished out of a handi of fragrant spiced basmati rice.

It did not come as a surprise to Gary’s followers who were quick to talk about the various biryanis that the chef must add to his list, as he mentioned to his users that he was gearing up for an Arabic ‘mandi’ meal, on his next visit. The restaurant’s official Instagram account commented under his photograph saying “Thank you so much for visiting us! We are glad you enjoyed the biryanis and Pathar Ka Ghosht. Hoping to see you again next time! – Team Biryaniwalla & Co.”

Many fans of the celebrity chef also gave him some tips to beat the Madurai heat in the comments on the post where he profusely thanked Saransh Goila for the biryani night out.
